Rito Loco began as a food truck, which started rolling on the streets of Washington, DC in 2012. Owner Louie Hankins quickly knew he had a hit on his hands. Lines lurched down DC streets crowded with guests waiting to get their fill of the truck’s signature tacos and namesake toasted ‘ritos.
Fast forward to 2015, Rito Loco’s loyal following gave rise to our Shaw brick-and-mortar, which is slinging an expanded menu of specialty tacos, our signature toasted ‘ritos and more in the heart of the city. Find our truck on the streets, stop by our Shaw shop, place an online order here for pickup or opt for delivery through several of your favorite apps to get your Rito Loco fix!

When owner Louie Hankins, opened El Techo right above Rito Loco, his burrito truck-turned-restaurant downstairs at 606 Florida Avenue NW, he described the space as “Instagram gold.” El Techo welcome Washington DC to its Latin jungle vacation-transporting design on a heated 1100-square-foot roof deck, which can be enclosed or open-air weather depending, in the Shaw neighborhood.
El Techo is serving up handcrafted cocktails, Latin-inspired tapas and entrees, and plenty of vacation vibes with decorations sourced straight from Mexico. The rooftop is available for full or partial buyouts. Both El Techo and sister restaurant Rito Loco's menus are available for private parties or El Techo will work with guests to create a custom party menu just for you.
